MOUNJARO

As of 23th June 2025 Mounjaro will be available to prescribe in General Practice. NHS England has initially limited this to those with the highest clinical need. In order to qualify you will need a BMI of 40* or more and a diagnosis of at least FOUR from the following conditions:

Dyslipidaemia (abnormal fat/cholesterol levels in the blood)
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Obstructive sleep apnoea (when your breathing stops and starts while you sleep)
Cardiovascular disease (such as heart attacks or strokes)
Type 2 diabetes mellitus

  • Those from a South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean ethnic backgrounds will qualify with a BMI of 37.5 or more

If you do not meet these criteria we will be unable to prescribe Mounjaro. There are other weight loss options and support that are available. Please make an appointment to discuss if you wish.
