Update on Policies for School Children

The NHS in Milton Keynes has notified schools and nurseries that their policies should not require parents and carers to ask GPs for prescriptions of medicines that can be bought over the counter. As long as the school has your written permission to administer the medicine and it is left at school in the original container that it came in, then they should be willing to give it.

In line with guidance from Public Health England and the Royal College of General Practice it is not necessary for schools and nurseries to exclude children with conjunctivitis (pink eye) nor for them to receive antibiotic drops.
